This will be my entry for a Design Competion in Iran.
I decided to do a poster about a very sensitive topic after watching a documentary on the NationalGeographic channel about Honor Killing, i decided to search more about the topic. And it turned out to be an interesting topic and in the same way hard to adress this issue through a design.
I have no idea why have they decided to name it HONOR KILLING When it has nothing to do with honor to me!! On the other hand it should be named DISHONORABLE KILLING
Honour killing is the murder of a family or clan member by one or more fellow family members, when the murderers (and potentially the wider community) believe the victim to have brought dishonour upon the family, clan, or community, normally by (a) utilizing dress codes unacceptable to certain people or (b) engaging in certain sexual acts. These killings result from the perception that defense of honour justifies killing a person whose behavior dishonor their clan or family. Honor murders are very common among Muslims.[1]
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) estimates that the annual worldwide total of honor-killing victims may be as high as 5,000.[2] [link]
